4th of July Fireworks and Celebrations in New Jersey 2019

New Jersey has over 90 Fourth of July celebrations and fireworks displays occurring on and around Independence Day, July 4th, 2019. Below is a list of festivals, carnivals, and fireworks celebrations taking place in New Jersey this 4th of July.

Events are listed by town in alphabetical order with details on dates (not all are on July 4th), times, fireworks info, and a link containing additional information. Be sure to check the links for details on postponements or rain dates.

Atlantic

  • Atlantic City: July 4th
    • At the Atlantic City Boardwalk, a fireworks display will be hosted by Tropicana at 10pm. The fireworks are launched from the beachfront and can be viewed along the boardwalk.

  • Atlantic City: July 4th
    • Borgata in the Marina District will have a fireworks display on July 4th starting at 9:20pm. Before the display, the National Anthem will be sung by American Idol finalist, and NJ native, Mara Justine.Β  Public viewing is available from the surface lot starting at 6pm ($5 for self parking, $10 for valet.)

  • Margate: July 4th
    • Margate’s annual fireworks take place on the beach at Huntington Ave, and are sponsored by the Margate Mothers’ Association. Fireworks are at approximately 9pm. Rain date is July 5th.

  • Northfield: July 4th
    • Northfield’s 4th of July Parade will begin at 10am, traveling down Shore Road and Mill Road, before continuing to Birch Grove Park. There will be complimentary hot dogs and soda at the Burton Avenue Fire Station Pavilion at the conclusion of the parade along with frozen treats by the Northfield Mothers’ League. Rain date is Saturday. July 10th.

Bergen

  • Allendale: July 4th
    • 4th of July activities are held by the Allendale Holiday Observers with daytime events starting at 8:30am at the Recreation Park with field events, contests, and races. During the evening, festivities take place at Crestwood Lake starting at 7:30pm with a concert by the Community Band of Waldwick with fireworks at 9pm (Fireworks are admission by ticket only for Allendale Residents and their guests, see this page for admission info and about modifications for 2021.)

  • East Rutherford: July 3rd & 4th
    • State Fair Meadowlands, the largest fair in New Jersey, will have fireworks on July 3rd & 4th along with over 100 rides and attractions, free entertainment, a huge selection of food, and more!

  • Edgewater: July 1st
    • The borough of Edgewater will hold their Independence Day fireworks on Thursday, July 1st, at Veterans Field. Rain date for the fireworks is July 2nd.

  • Fair Lawn: July 1st
    • Fair Lawn’s Fireworks Show takes place at Memorial Park on July 1st. Gates open at 6:45pm and will feature live music by The Shotz, food vendors, and fireworks at approximately 9pm. Admission is required, see the website for more info.

  • Maywood: July 5th
    • Maywood will hold their Independence Day Parade on Monday, July 5th, starting at 9am with the theme of “Honoring All Essential Workers.” There will be a special program at the end of the parade at Memorial Park for the reading of the Declaration of Independence.

  • Ridgewood: July 5th
    • Ridgewood’s 111th annual 4th of July Celebration takes place on July 5th and begins with a flag raising at 9am at Wilsey Square with a Parade to follow at 10am, starting at Monroe St & Godwin Ave and ending at Northern Pkwy & Meadowbrook Ave. There will be no evening events or fireworks this year.

  • Mount Holly: July 3rd
    • Mount Holly’s Independence Day events take place on July 3rd. Festivities begin at 6pm at Iron Works Park featuring live music, over 25 food vendors and merchants, and fireworks at sundown.

  • Riverton: July 3rd
    • Riverton will feature activities all day on July 3rd including the Bill Oliver 5K Race and 1 mile Fun Run, 124th annual Children’s Parade at 10am, activities at Riverton Park, Great Joe Zaneski Downhill Race, pet pageant, and more! See the website for a full schedule of activities.

  • Camden: July 4th
    • Camden County’s Freedom Festival kicks off at 5pm on July 4th at Wiggins Waterfront Park. The festival will feature music by the Tri-County Symphonic Band at 5pm, Arnetta Johnson & SunnyΒ at 6:30pm, and Southside Johnny & The Asbury JukesΒ at 8pm with the fireworks spectacular over the Delaware River to follow at 9:30pm.

  • Collingswood: July 4th
    • Activities on July 4th begin at 2pm at Roberts Pool, featuring water games, raft races, prizes, and more. Festivities move to the field at Collingswood High School in the evening featuring music by To the Max at 8pm with fireworks to follow at dusk (gates open at 6:30pm.)

  • Haddon Twp: July 3rd
    • Haddon will hold their Happy Birthday America Celebration on July 3rd. The township’s Independence Day Parade steps off at 11:30am starting at the Municipal Building and ending at Crystal Lake Pool. At dusk, fireworks will be held at Haddon Township High School (rain date for the fireworks is July 5th.)

  • Avalon: July 4th
    • Events on the July 4th kick off at 7:30pm with a free concert at Surfside Park featuring the Bay Atlantic Symphony Brass Ensemble with Percussion. Fireworks will follow at dusk (approximately 8:45pm) at the 30th Street beach with the show set to music on 98.7 the Coast.

  • Lower Twp: July 3rd
    • Lower Township’s Independence Day Festival & Fireworks begins at 5pm on July 3rd, located on the bayfront in North Cape May. The festival is held along Beach Drive and will have live music, food and merch vendors, free carnival rides for kids, and fireworks shortly after 9pm.

  • Ocean City: July 4th
    • Ocean City’s Independence Day festivities include a Bike Parade at 10am, kite flying competition at 7pm, and entertainment next to Music Pier at 7:30pm leading up to a spectacular fireworks display over the boardwalk at 9pm.

  • Sea Isle City: July 4th
    • Fireworks will be held on July 4th, and will be launched from an ocean barge near 50th Street beach. The show will start at 9pm.

  • Wildwood Crest: July 4th
    • Wildwood Crest’s July 4th festivities begin at 7:30pm with a free concert at Centennial Park (Fern Road & Ocean Avenue) featuring Don’t Call Me Francis with fireworks at 10pm. Bring your blankets and/or beach chairs!

Essex

  • Cedar Grove: July 1st
    • Fireworks will be held at Panther Park Field on July 1st (rain date July 2nd.) Gates open at 7pm with DJ entertainment, balloon artist, and arts and crafts, with fireworks at dusk. No lawn chairs or food permitted on the turf field.

  • Fairfield: June 30th
    • Fairfield’s Independence Day Celebration takes place at the Recreation Complex on June 30th. Festivities begin at 5:30pm along with DJ entertainment starting at 7:30pm. Fireworks begin at dusk (approx 9pm.)

  • Livingston: July 4th
    • July 4th events will take place near Memorial Oval on Robert Harp Drive. Events throughout the day include Livingston’s 27th Annual Auto Fest from 9am-3pm, family and kids activities from 9am-3pm, and beer & wine cafe from 3:30pm-7pm with live bands. Main stage entertainment and fireworks have been postponed to a later date.

  • Millburn: July 4th
    • Millburn’s Annual July 4th Celebration, presented by the Millburn/Short Hills Fourth of July Committee. Morning events begin at 9am with a flag raising ceremony at Taylor Park, followed by family activities including a magician, Revolutionary War reenactors, chalk decorating, and Red White & Blue Scavenger hunt. Evening events take place at Millburn High School. Gates open at 7pm and features DJ entertainment, food and ice cream trucks, and fireworks at 9pm (admission is $10 per person.)

  • Verona: June 30th
    • Verona’s Fireworks will be held on June 30th at the Community Center Complex. Festivities begin at 7pm with DJ entertainment and food with fireworks at dusk. Rain date is July 1st.

  • West Orange: July 4th
    • Events on July 4th are held at West Orange High School featuring a food truck festival from 1-9pm along with fireworks at dusk. Chairs are not permitted on the fields so bring blankets!

  • Wenonah: July 3rd
    • The Wenonah Lions Club will hold their 65th Independence Day Celebration on July 3rd with several activities throughout the day including the annual Parade along Mantua Ave at 8:30am, Patriotic Ceremony and events at Wenonah Park starting at 10am along with a beer garden with live music by The Local 12.

  • Jersey City: July 4th
    • Jersey City’s spectacular fireworks over the Hudson will return in 2021! Fireworks will take place on July 4th at 9:30, and will be launched from two barges on the Hudson River, viewable from both NJ and NY sides of the Hudson River Waterfront. The Jersey City Midnight Market at Exchange Place will be having food, drinks, shopping, and music from 12 noon – 10pm.

  • Lebanon: July 4th
    • Lebanon’s 74th annual 4th of July Parade takes place on July 4th. Events begin at 11am with the Children’s Parade on Main at Sutton Place (registration at 9:30am, judging at 10:30am.) The Main Parade kicks off at 11:30am near Main St & Rt 22, traveling down Myrtle before proceeding down Brunswick Ave. Festivities will be at Holjes-Sheppard Park following the parade.

  • Hamilton Twp: July 2nd
    • Hamilton Twp will have their Independence Day Concert and Fireworks at Veterans Park on July 2nd. Gates open at 6pm with music by The Heartbeats followed by fireworks at 9:30pm. Rain date for this event is July 3rd.

      Note: Due to the weather, this event has been postponed to July 3rd!

  • West Windsor: July 3rd & 4th
    • Along with rides, games, food, and entertainment, the L.E.A.D. Fest State Fair at Mercer County Park will be having fireworks on July 3rd and 4th. Admission is free for Mercer county residents after 6pm on July 3rd and 4th ($8 per person for non-residents.)Β  The fair runs from July 1st to the 11th.

  • Carteret: July 3rd
    • Carteret’s annual Independence Day Festival takes place at Waterfront Park from 4-11pm on July 3rd. The festival will have food vendors, live music by The Infernos at 7pm, and fireworks at 9:15pm.

  • East Brunswick: July 4th
    • Festivities take place at the East Brunswick Community Arts Center starting at 6:30pm on July 4th. Ice cream, pretzel, and cotton candy vendors will be on site with music by Epic Soul starting at 7:30pm. Fireworks will start after the concert at 9:30pm.

  • Milltown: July 3rd
    • Milltown’s 4th of July celebration is back with a bang! Festivities in the morning include a fishing derby at 6am at the Milltown Rescue Squad, Fun Run at 7:30am followed by the 5K race at 8am, parade along Main St at 10am, and St. Paul’s rubber duck race at 12:30pm. Evening events around Bradford Park start at 6pm and include music by Mr. Ray at 6pm and The Milltones at 7:15pm, with fireworks at 9:30pm.

  • North Brunswick: July 4th
    • The North Brunswick Youth Sports Festival will hold a fireworks display on July 4th at 10pm. Along with fireworks, the festival also features carnival rides, food, midway shows, and more! Admission is $7 per person.

  • Manasquan: July 2nd
    • Manasquan’s 4th of July celebration takes place on July 2nd from 3-11pm. Festivities kick off with a decorated bike contest at the little league fields with a parade to follow. Live music by the Billy Lawlor Band at 7:30pm at Main Beach with fireworks at dusk. Rain date July 3rd.

  • Dover: July 3rd
    • Dover will hold their annual 4th of July Fireworks Celebration on July 3rd, located at King’s Field/North Dover Elementary School. Gates open at 6:30pm and will feature live music by La Leyenda La Vida, food & beverages, and fireworks at dark. Parking is available at Dover High School. Rain date is July 5th.

  • Lake Hopatcong: July 4th
    • Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club will be holding their annual fireworks display over the lake on July 4th at approximately 9:15pm. Rain date for the fireworks is July 10th.

  • Randolph: July 1st - 3rd
    • Randolph’s annual Freedom Festival will take place at the Community College of Morris from Thursday, July 1st, through Saturday, July 3rd. Rides, games, food, DJ entertainment, vendors, and fun! Fireworks will be held on Friday night at 9:45pm. Parade Day is Saturday with the parade kicking off at 10am, running along Dover Chester Road & Quaker Church Road. The festival runs from 6-11pm each night.

  • Barnegat: July 2nd
    • Barnegat will have their Independence Day fireworks on Friday, July 2nd, located at Barnegat High School. Fireworks will begin at dusk.

  • Beachwood: July 4th
    • Beachwood will hold their 81st annual Independence Day fireworks on July 4th. The celebration takes place at Beachwood Beach and will have food trucks, face painting, prize giveaways and activities by 92.7 WOBM, and a spectacular fireworks display over Toms River.

  • Jackson: July 2nd - 4th
    • Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson will be holding their Coca-Cola July 4th Fest on July 2nd, 3rd, and 4th featuring fireworks over the lake each night. Park hours are 10am-9pm on July 2nd & July 4th, and 10am-10pm on July 3rd. Tickets can be purchased at Six Flags’ website.

  • Point Pleasant: July 4th
    • Jenkinson’s Boardwalk will be hosting a fireworks display on the beach on July 4th. Jenkinson’s also holds fireworks every Thursday night June through the first week of September.

  • Clifton: July 4th
    • On the 4th, Clifton will host their City Picnic from 12-6pm at Main Memorial Park featuring food, crafts, clowns, free activities and rides for children. In the evening, fireworks will be held at Clifton High School Stadium at dusk. The picnic is free. Fireworks admission is $3, tickets can be purchased at the City Clerk’s Office

  • Little Falls: July 4th
    • The Little Falls PBA #346 will host their annual Street Fair along Main St and Stevens Ave from 10am – 5pm. Craft and retail vendors, great food, kiddie rides, entertainment, and much more!

Somerset

  • Franklin Twp: July 2nd
    • Franklin Township will hold their Independence Day Fireworks on July 2nd, at the Franklin Twp Municipal Complex. Festivities begin at 7:30pm with live music at the gazebo with fireworks at 9:15pm. Rain date is July 9th.

  • North Plainfield: July 10th
    • North Plainfield will hold their Fireworks on Saturday, July 10th, located at West End Elementary School. The festivities begin with a concert at 7pm with fireworks to follow at dusk. Rain date is July 11th.

  • Augusta: July 4th
    • The Sussex County Miners will hold Hometown Heroes Night on July 4th featuring an EMS, Police, and Fire parade around the field, along with their largest fireworks display of the season after the game. Gates open at 4:35pm with first pitch at 6:05pm; tickets can be purchased at the SC Miners’ website.

  • Sparta: July 4th
    • The Sparta Elks #2356 will host their annual Fourth of July Parade starting at 10:30am on July 4th (lineup at East Shore Trail and Twin Elm Terrace.)

  • Vernon: July 3rd
    • Mountain Creek will hold a fireworks display on July 3rd. Fireworks can be viewed from the Great Lawn (outside of the Red Tail Lodge.) Parking is available in the park’s general parking lot across the street.

  • Clark: July 4th
    • Clark Township’s annual fireworks display will be held on July 4th at the Arthur L Johnson High School grounds on Westfield Ave. Fireworks will start at approximately 9:15pm.

  • Roselle Park: July 1st
    • Roselle Park’s Annual Independence Day celebration will be held on July 1st at the Roselle Park High School athletic fields. Gates open at 5pm and features live music, food trucks, inflatable rides, and fireworks at dusk. Rain date is July 5th.

  • Scotch Plains: July 3rd
    • Scotch Plains will hold their annual Independence Day fireworks celebration on Saturday, July 3rd at Scotch Hills Golf Course. The celebration begins at 7:30pm.

  • Summit: July 4th
    • Summit’s July 4th celebration takes place at Soldiers Memorial Field. Activities begin at 12 noon and include a Food Truck Festival, children’s decorated bicycle parade, live music, rides for kids, and hot dog eating contest. Fireworks begin at 9:15pm.
